The Cincinnati Dance Crew

The Cincinnati Dance Crew is our dance performance team which presents local performances throughout the year at area festivals, community events, shopping malls, retirement communities, and so on. The Cincinnati Dance Crew is made up of girls and boys ranging in age from four to eighteen, divided into different leveled groupings.

Placement on the Cincinnati Dance Crew is based on teacher recommendations from the previous year; there is no formal audition process. If a student from another school wishes to join the Cincinnati Dance Crew, he/she is asked to participate in a few classes to evaluate readiness for the team.

Below are the divisions for the Cincinnati Dance Crew:

• Micros – Kindergarten through 3rd grade
• Minis – 3rd grade through 6th grade
• Juniors – 6th grade through 9th grade
• Seniors – 9th grade through 12th grade

The mentioned ages are the range that most students fall into at a level, but there may be older or younger students at that level. The main criteria for placement is level, not age.

Once the student has displayed sufficient mastery of the core curriculum as determined by the CDMC faculty, then he/she is ready to move on to the next level. It is possible for a dancer to be at different levels in different types of dance – for example, a Junior in jazz but a Senior in tap.
